Ingredients

  • 1 cup orange juice squeeze your own
  • 3 tablespoons sweetener honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 tablespoons grass fed gelatin I use Great Lakes in orange can

Instructions

  • Prepare molds (if you use these, you will need two sets; or use one set and pour the rest into ramekins to slice into cubes later).
  • Whisk 1 cup orange juice with 3 tablespoons sweetener and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla in a small heavy bottom sauce pan (I use this butter warmer).
  • Add 6 tablespoons of gelatin, and warm on low until gelatin dissolves. The liquid shouldn't get hot, just warm enough to dissolve any visible clumps and chunks.
  • Using a dropper (it comes with the molds pictured here), pipe the gelatin mixture into the molds.
  • Refrigerate for 20-30 minutes, or until completely set.
  • Remove from molds.
  • I store them in refrigerator but they also keep shape at room temperature.

Notes

The initial gelatin smell goes away quickly after Homemade Orange Gummy Bears cool down.
If you get air bubbles, and want to remove them - use a toothpick.
This mold makes very small gummy bears, so it's quite time consuming to pipe and remove them from the molds. I make them as a special treat, or to take along on trips.
