Probiotic Turmeric Mango Smoothie

by Valeria - Beets 'n Bones blog

I frequently try different smoothies, homemade and store-bought, but not many wow me enough to say ‘I need to make another one right now!’

Well, this Probiotic Turmeric Mango Smoothie is that – fresh, bright, filling, full of amazing nutrients – the one that I go back to regularly, and don’t get tired of.

TURMERIC

Turmeric is a nutritional powerhouse. It is full of antioxidants, has strong anti-inflammatory  and antimicrobial properties. Turmeric improves circulation and benefits cardiovascular system. Try this Turmeric Golden Milk!

GINGER

Ginger, which is a plant relative of turmeric, is also full of medicinal powers. It can boost immunity, help with digestion and nausea, heal ulcers, improve diabetes and fight cancers.

KEFIR OR YOGURT

Any cultured dairy products are full of live probiotic bacteria. Probiotics strengthen immune system, can prevent and treat infections, improve digestion, and so much more!

HOW TO MAKE PROBIOTIC TURMERIC MANGO SMOOTHIE

1 cup kefir, yogurt (or coconut milk for vegan version)
1/2 cup frozen mango chunks (or 1 fresh mango + 3 ice cubes)

1-2 inch piece of fresh turmeric root (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)
Sliver of fresh ginger (or 1/4 teaspoon powdered ginger)
1/2 teaspoon powdered cinnamon
1 teaspoon chia seeds

Instructions
Blend everything in a blender. Enjoy right away.

Update: After reading more about Ayurvedic practice and its view of frozen foods, I’ve been making this smoothie with fresh  mangos only, without adding ice cubes.

So rich & creamy & delicious! Wonderful way to start the day. I used almond milk instead of the kefir. Thank you!
